Hi there! This is Hollie from Little Miss Marmalade, and I?m happy to share this easy Halloween craft with all you See Vanessa Craft readers. A few weeks ago, I went to the cutest holiday boutique and found a festive ?BEWARE? garland that I could decorate my mantel with for Halloween. It had a touch of lace that gave it an antique feel. I loved everything about this boutique garland except the $40 price tag.

Determined to save a penny and create a fun decor for my home, I quickly headed to the nearest craft store. I already had many of the supplies needed, such as the bags, hole punch, doilies and glue. I bought the rest of the materials and ended up handcrafting a garland for less than $20! This craft was also a time saver; it took around an hour to make, including the time spent shopping for supplies. You could easily create this garland to decorate for other holidays by simply changing the letters to read a different message and using other flower colors and embellishments.

Supplies

• 6 brown paper lunch bags
• Hole punch
• Pinking shears
• Stickers or doodles to decorate the bags
• 6 (4-inch-diameter) paper doilies
• Glue or spray adhesive
• 6 lace flowers in orange (Michael?s Crafts sells these in packets of 2 for $2.39)
• Stick-It Felt 2-inch letters to spell ?BEWARE?
• 5/8-inch black satin ribbon

Step 1: I had a stack of brown paper lunch bags in my pantry just waiting to be used for something. Their rectangle shape was perfect for this garland. On the ?bottom? end of each bag, use a hole punch to punch 1 hole in each of the upper-left and upper-right corners.

Step 2: Use pinking shears to cut an upside down ?V? shape at the ?top? end of each bag.

Step 3: Decorate the bag with stickers or doodles to your liking. I used glitter adhesive embellishments in purple and green.

Step 4: Attach a doily to the center of each bag with glue or spray adhesive.

Step 5: In the center of each doily, attach a lace flower. The flowers I used have a peel-and-stick adhesive on the back, so they were very easy to place.

Step 6: On the top of each flower, place a Stick-It Felt letter so ?BEWARE? is spelled out.

Step 7: Thread black satin ribbon through the holes punched in step 1. The garland will be easy to hang if loops are tied at each end of the ribbon.

If Halloween had been popular during the Regency period, perhaps the Dashwood sisters would?ve crafted such a garland for their Barton Park cottage in Jane Austen?s Sense and Sensibility!
