There have been quite a few changes to Facebook in the last couple weeks that could very well impact your real estate marketing on Facebook.
Here are few changes you should take note of:1.?????
?
- Lists ? You can now organize your friends into separate lists, and each time you make a post you can choose which list you would like to share your update with.? This is much like the Twitter lists feature.
- ?Subscriptions ? With the new subscription feature, you can follow someone?s updates without having to become their fried (assuming the updates are public).? Again, much like what you can currently do with Twitter (noticing a trend here?).
- News Ticker ? This seems to have replaced the ?most recent? option for the new feed.? All status updates, comments, like and connections now appear in your ticker feed.? This is a good way to keep a feed going, much like Twitter.? Albeit, it?s a bit more organized than the cluttered Twitter feeds suffer from.
- Photos ? Photos now appear much larger in your news feed.
- No More Profile Button ? Where the ?profile? button used to be, is now just your name.
- Privacy Settings ? The menus within your Privacy Settings have been simplified quite a bit.? You now have the following categories; ?Control Your Default Privacy?, ?How You Connect?, ?How Tags Work?, ?Apps and Websites?, ?Limit the Audience for Past Posts? and ?Blocked People and Apps? with sub categories for each.? I?d recommend combing through each of the menus and sub-menus now that these changes are in place to familiarize yourself and just make sure they?re in-line with what?s acceptable to you.
How do these changes affect your real estate marketing efforts in Facebook?
First, you should certainly familiarize yourself with the new news feed.? The ?top stories? within the news feed will be highly viewed, so you want to make sure that your updates appear within ?top stories? or else they?ll quickly be lost in the shuffle.
Use lists.? I highly recommend lists on Twitter, and now that they?re available in Facebook, you?ll want to use them there too.? Just like your CRM software, you?ll want to categorize all your contacts; friends, clients, prospects, etc.? This makes it very easy to separate work and play, too.
Try Subscriptions.? My hunch is that most people that you would like to market to will need to be your friend before you can view their updates, but subscriptions might be a good way to follow other people in the industry for ideas and a competitive edge.
Happy Marketing!
